It will receive a total of \u00a338 million in funding, with \u00a315 million coming directly from the UK government through the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and Innovate UK. This team will work on developing food and feed based on alternative proteins, addressing concerns about ultra-processed foods and supporting a fair transition for producers.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Process<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: Enhancing production methods to make these new proteins easier to produce on a large scale. The goal is to accelerate the adoption of cultivated meat and precision fermentation, making these alternative proteins more widely available.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>Perform<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: Ensuring that alternative proteins meet consumer expectations in terms of taste, texture, and food safety.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><b>People<\/b>: Making these alternative proteins accessible and appealing to everyone, integrating them into daily diets so they become as desirable as conventional protein sources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.veganok.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/ricerca-proteine-alternative.jpg\" alt=\"alternative protein research\" width=\"1335\" height=\"655\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Why is it important?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">NAPIC isn\u2019t just another research centre; it\u2019s a cornerstone of the UK\u2019s strategy to become a global leader in sustainable food.
